Slovenia Passport Documents Checklist
A Slovenian passport is applied for in person at an upravna enota, with an e-booking system and tiers of validity. This checklist covers attendance, validity and the fee multipliers. Verified against e-uprava.gov.si, October 2026.
The 15-second answer
Apply in person at your upravna enota and book via eSamonaročanje. Validity is tiered by age, and a lost passport multiplies the fee.
Where and how you apply
- In person at an upravna enota — only the applicant can lodge it.
- Booking: eSamonaročanje (e-booking) through the e-uprava portal.
- Children: a child aged 8 or over who can sign must attend; a legal representative applies for a minor, and the other parent's consent may be required.
Validity by age
- 10 years — adults aged 18 and over.
- 5 years — ages 3 to 18.
- 3 years — children under 3.
- 1 year — where two or more passports were lost within 5 years, or where fingerprints cannot currently be taken.
Fee multipliers (loss and damage)
- First loss, theft or improper damage: double the administrative fee.
- Repeat within 5 years: four times the administrative fee.
The base administrative amount is not published on the page consulted, so no figure is given here.
Return and surrender
A passport must be returned for destruction within 30 days in cases such as a name change, a photo that no longer resembles the holder, loss of nationality, or damage making it unusable.
