France quirks worth knowing
- The e-photo system: most in-France applications use photos from ANTS-approved photographers or booths that hand you a private e-photo code. A home-made print is still accepted for many renewals and overseas consular applications — our tool covers that route, including the light grey background French checkers expect.
- No smile means no smile: France's automated check is unusually strict about expression. Keep the mouth closed and the face relaxed.
- Light grey, not white: this is the main difference from the UK or Korea formats. The preset in our tool defaults to grey for France.
