Visa photo vs passport photo — don't mix them up
India uses two different photo formats: the visa photo is 2 × 2 inches square (this page), while the Indian passport photo is 35 × 45 mm portrait (that page). Submitting a 35 × 45 portrait for a visa application — or the reverse — is a classic rejection. Check which document you're applying for before cropping.
Applying for the e-Visa online? The upload form accepts a square JPEG of at least ~350 × 350 px — our 600 × 600 export clears it comfortably. Mail-in and consulate applications typically want the 2 × 2 prints.
How it works
- Tap the button — the 2 × 2 India visa format is pre-selected.
- Upload a photo taken against a plain wall (see the home photo guide).
- Face detection frames the crop; download the JPEG (and print at 2 × 2 if needed).
Everything runs locally in your browser — the photo never leaves your device.
