Official specifications (Policía Nacional)

Print size	32 × 26 mm, landscape (32 wide × 26 high) — one of the world's few horizontal ID photos

Background	Uniform, plain white — no shadows, patterns or objects (official wording)
Framing	Front-facing; the full face oval clearly visible — eyebrows, eyes, nose and chin
Expression	Neutral, mouth closed, nothing covering or distorting identification
Glasses	Dark/tinted lenses banned outright; clear lenses are not prohibited by the official text — if in doubt, take them off

Spain quirks worth knowing

It's landscape — really: the official DNI/passport text specifies "32 x 26 milímetros", and Spanish photo booths print it horizontally, 32 mm wide by 26 mm tall. If you bring a standard 35 × 45 portrait photo it will be rejected. Our Spain preset crops to the correct landscape ratio automatically.
One photo, four documents: the same 32 × 26 mm photo is required for the pasaporte, DNI, TIE (residence card) and driving licence — one home session covers everything Spain will ever ask of you.
Schengen visa is a different spec: Spanish national documents take the small landscape photo, but a Schengen short-stay visa for Spain takes 35 × 45 mm portrait. Two documents, two specs — don't mix them. See the Schengen visa photo page for the visa format.
No published head band: unlike France or the Netherlands, the official Spanish text doesn't publish a millimetre head-height band — it requires the face oval (eyebrows to chin) fully visible and identifiable. In practice, fill most of the frame with the face and keep it square to the camera.

Two different specs: Spain national documents (passport, DNI, TIE, driving licence) use the small landscape photo; the Schengen short-stay visa uses standard portrait. One photo does not fit both.
