Germany quirks worth knowing
- Glasses are out: Germany was among the first EU countries to ban even normal eyeglasses in biometric ID photos. Take them off before you shoot — no exceptions for frames you "always wear".
- Biometric template checks: Bürgeramt checkers verify head tilt, lighting and expression against the ISO/ICAO facial-image template. Small deviations get bounced; keep the shoulders level and the face square to the camera.
- Same band as France: 32–36 mm chin-to-crown, light background. If you shoot one compliant photo against a grey wall you can legitimately crop it for both — but check the expression and glasses rules per country.
