Enlarging an image means inventing new pixels between the existing ones. This tool uses bilinear interpolation: each new pixel is a weighted average of its four nearest neighbours. That makes the picture larger and smoother, but it cannot add detail that was not in the original, so results are softer than a native high-resolution image.
How it works
- You pick a scale factor; the width and height are multiplied by it.
- Bilinear interpolation fills the new pixels from the surrounding ones.
- An optional unsharp mask adds local contrast to counter the softness of scaling.
- It is a local, browser-only operation; no image leaves your device.
