When line sorting helps
Long lists — invitees, keywords, config values, log lines — are far easier to read in order, and duplicate removal stops the same entry appearing twice. Sorting treats each line as a whole unit: it reorders lines and can trim or de-duplicate them, but never rewrites the text inside a line. Numeric mode parses each line as a number so that 2 sorts before 10, and lines that are not numbers are pushed to the end. Case-insensitive mode groups Apple and apple together. Frequently asked questions
Is my text uploaded anywhere?
No. Sorting and de-duplication happen in your browser with built-in JavaScript. Your text never leaves your device and nothing is stored between visits.
What sort orders are available?
Alphabetical A to Z, reverse Z to A, numeric (treating each line as a number, with non-numbers last), shortest to longest, longest to shortest, and a plain reverse of the current order.
How does the duplicate remover work?
It keeps the first occurrence of each line and drops later ones. With the case-insensitive option on, lines that differ only by letter case are treated as duplicates.
Can I ignore leading and trailing spaces?
Yes. Turn on the trim option to strip surrounding whitespace before sorting and de-duplicating, which avoids treating differently padded lines as distinct.
Will it drop blank lines?
Only if you ask it to. The remove-empty-lines option deletes blank lines; leave it off to keep them.
Does it change the content of the lines?
No. It reorders whole lines and optionally trims or de-duplicates them; it never rewrites the text within a line.
