Working out deadlines in business days means skipping weekends and public holidays. This calculator does it both ways: give it two dates to count the business days between them, or give it a date and a number to find the resulting date. You can choose which days form the weekend and list any holidays to exclude.
How it counts
- Weekend days are excluded; the default weekend is Saturday and Sunday.
- Each holiday date you list is skipped.
- Dates are compared as UTC calendar days, so daylight saving does not shift a result.
- Start and end dates are ordered automatically, so swapping them gives the same count.
Frequently asked questions
What counts as a business day?
A business day is any day that is not a weekend day and not one of the holidays you list. By default Saturday and Sunday are the weekend.
Can I exclude public holidays?
Yes. Enter the holiday dates (one per line or comma-separated) and they will be skipped.
Can I count backwards or add working days?
Yes. Enter a start date and a number of business days to get the resulting date.
What if I swap the start and end dates?
The count uses the earlier and later dates, so the result is the same either way.
How are time zones handled?
Dates are compared as UTC calendar days, so daylight-saving changes do not shift the result.
Are leap years handled?
Yes. The date arithmetic uses the calendar, so 29 February is handled correctly.
