Barbados Entry Visa Checklist — Visitor Documents & Online Form
Barbados issues its entry visa online, and every traveller completes an online Immigration and Customs form before arrival. This checklist sets out the entry-visa process and the visitor documents the Barbados Immigration Department publishes. Verified against the Barbados Immigration Department (immigration.gov.bb), October 2026.
The entry visa is now fully online
The Barbados entry visa process is now a fully online process: eligible travellers apply for and pay for their entry visa through the official portal before travelling. There is no visa issued on arrival, so apply in advance if you need one.
Visitor requirements (things to know)
- Passport valid for the duration of your trip.
- Return ticket to your country of residence.
- Intended address in Barbados.
- Evidence of personal support (funds for your stay).
The online Immigration and Customs form
Travellers are required to complete the online Immigration and Customs form, which becomes available 72 hours before your arrival in Barbados. Fill it in at a time and place that suits you. Once complete, save the Immigration and Customs receipts to your mobile device or print them, and present them to Immigration and Customs on arrival.
Minors younger than 18
Unaccompanied minors must have a written consent letter from a parent or legal guardian (the guardian must have official proof of guardianship), signed by a notary public with the notary's seal affixed. The letter must state the duration of stay and identify an authorised adult who will receive the child on arrival, with that person's contact details. Travel with the original and a copy.
Minors travelling with an adult other than a parent or legal guardian must carry a letter of consent from a parent, signed by a notary public with the seal affixed. It must state the duration of stay, identify the accompanying adult (with address and telephone number), and identify an authorised adult who will receive the child on arrival if different from the accompanying person — again with address and telephone number. Travel with the original and a copy.
Before you travel
Confirm whether you need an entry visa (apply and pay online if so), complete the online Immigration and Customs form within the 72-hour window, and carry your passport, return ticket, intended address and evidence of support. Minors should carry the notarised consent letters described above.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a visa to visit Barbados?
It depends on your nationality. Barbados operates an entry visa, and the process is now fully online — eligible travellers apply and pay through the official portal before travelling. There is no visa issued on arrival, so check before you book.
How do I apply and pay for the Barbados entry visa?
Through the official Barbados Immigration portal: complete the online application and pay online. The process is fully online, so there is no in-person lodgement.
When do I fill in the online Immigration and Customs form, and do I need to print it?
The form becomes available 72 hours before your arrival. After completing it, save the Immigration and Customs receipts to your mobile device or print them, and present them to Immigration and Customs on arrival.
What documents does a child travelling to Barbados need?
An unaccompanied minor needs a written consent letter from a parent or legal guardian, signed by a notary public with the seal affixed, stating the duration of stay and naming the adult who will receive the child. A minor travelling with an adult who is not a parent or guardian needs a notarised letter of consent identifying the accompanying adult. Carry the original and a copy in both cases.
How long must my passport be valid?
Your passport must be valid for the duration of your trip, and you must also hold a return ticket to your country of residence.
How much money do I need to show?
Travellers should carry evidence of personal support for their stay. The Immigration Department does not publish a fixed amount, so be ready to show funds covering your visit.
Check any passport photo you need against the rejection reasons guide and the passport photo checker, browse the photo size chart, and shoot at home with the at-home photo guide. Digital upload rules are in the digital file requirements.
