Match your permit to your purpose
The permit you hold must match what you are actually doing. A visitor permit is for a visit — working, investing, studying or joining family uses a different permit class (work, investment, study, dependant, yacht, medical, or assured-income residence). Arriving on a visitor permit to do something else is a common refusal point.
Common reasons an application or entry fails
- Misjudging the exempt list — not on the list and no visa obtained means you cannot board.
- Passport issues — expired passport, or not carrying the linked old passport.
- Purpose mismatch — travelling as a visitor while intending to work or study.
- Character or health grounds — failing Fiji’s requirements.
