Romania’s short-stay (type C) visa is applied for through the E-VIZA gateway in four steps, and the fees are published: 90 EUR for a type C visa, with reduced rates for children and a higher rate for long-stay. The four steps
The portal sets out the process in order: “1. Getting informed with regard to the conditions that have to be fulfilled in order to apply for and obtain a visa.” Then “2. Identifying whether you are subject to the visa obligation or not” — using the “Get informed” section, where you enter your nationality, the purpose of your journey, the type of your travel document, and whether your travel document is biometric, to find out if you need a visa. Third, “3. Filling-in a visa application online and attaching the required documents”, which requires a valid email address and consent, and asks you to upload the supporting documents. Fourth, “4. Sending your visa application file for validation” — you send the file containing the application form and the supporting documents to the diplomatic mission or consular post of your choice.
Only a validated file moves forward
Validation is a real gate: “you can pass to the next step only if your application file is validated (i.e. marked as ‘Valid’).” If the file is incomplete or incorrect, it does not advance.
Fees
The published fee table is explicit: airport transit visa (marked A) — 90 EUR; uniform visa (marked C) — 90 EUR; children aged 6–12 years (for A, C visa types) — 45 EUR; long-stay visa (marked D) — 300 EUR. One warning is worth reading twice: “not paying the visa fee triggers the inadmissibility of a visa application (the application shall not be accepted at the counter).” Pay before you attend.
