- Apply at least 6 working days ahead — since 31 December 2023, applications submitted with fewer than 6 working days’ notice incur a higher fee.
- Card or mobile money only — you pay by bank card (Visa/MasterCard) or mobile money (Flooz/TMoney); cash is not accepted.
- ECOWAS nationals are exempt — citizens of CEDEAO/ECOWAS member states do not need a visa.

Common reasons an application or entry fails
- Passport validity shortfall — it must run 3 months beyond the requested visa; otherwise the application is returned.
- No flight proof — required for air arrivals.
- Applying too late — under 6 working days means a higher fee and possibly missing your trip.
- Payment not completed — only card or mobile money are accepted, never cash.
- Purpose mismatch — doing professional or immigration-related activity on a tourist visa.
