Malaysia Passport Application Guide

A Malaysian international passport is issued by the Immigration Department (JIM). This guide covers the fee table and the lost-passport multipliers. Verified against imi.gov.my, October 2026.

The 15-second answer

A standard passport is RM200 for 5 years or RM350 for 10 years (ages 18–59). Malaysia issues an ICAO e-passport, and losing your passport raises the fee sharply.

Fees (as published)

Lost or damaged passport (multipliers)

ReplacementFee
FirstRM300–RM400
SecondRM600–RM700
Third and laterRM1,000–RM1,200

Take good care of the passport: repeated loss or damage escalates the fee at each stage.

The passport itself

Malaysia issues an ICAO-compliant electronic passport. The current version dates from 2 February 2010 and uses an open biometric system with higher-resolution facial recognition.
